History Sikh history originates from Nankana Sahib. Guru Nanak Dev ji was born here in 1469. The name of the place at that time was Rai Bhoi di Talwandi. The landlord contemporary of Guru Nanak Dev ji was Rai Bular, who himself became a devotee of Guruji. It was renamed Nankana after Guruji.The town has nine Gurdwaras including the Gurdwara Janam Asthan which marks the birth place of Guru Nanak Devji. Each of the Gurdwaras is related with important events in Guru Nanak Dev ji's life. Annually some 25,000 Sikh pilgrims visit the town with about 15,000 gathering during the peak season around the birthday celebrations of Guru Nanak.
Remarks It is a small town in the Pakistani province of Punjab with a population of almost 60,000 . The town is located about 75 kilometres west of Lahore . Nankana Sahib is in Sheikhupura district and is connected to the district town by rail and road.
